Contentsis pleased that he liked the catalogues from Munich; she liked the little painting of the Sphinx very much; the colours are shining, the garments red; she also likes 'Sturmglocke'; is pleased that he also likes Scheurenberg's Madonna; she does not understand the painting ['Symbolmalerei'] by [Jan] Toorop; his paintings fill a whole room, she felt as if she were in a lunatic asylum; explains pointillisme, a technique which shows how the air flickers; it does not look too badly if one stands far enough; the most beautiful landscapes are not in the catalogues; she particularly enjoyed a landscape in the snow; she also likes the English room, the paintings by [George Frederick] Watts; the poster 'Die Sünde' by Franz Stuck was phenomenal, also Arnold Böcklin's 'Cleopatra' and Walter Firle's 'Dein Wille geschehe'
