| Contents | he is pleased to be back in Karlsruhe from the shooting range; he was responsible for keeping account of the shots fired; he found the task of finding billets very tiresome, but enjoyed the time on the firing range; complains of lack of sleep due to noise and flies; the tasks of keeping lists of talleys of shots of live ammunition and of being quartermaster are quite tricky; on the way back he had difficulties in Durmesheim, because the locals did not want to stable the horses; one of their gunners was from Durmersheim, so that Warburg organised it that he was billeted in his girlfriend's house; he thinks that Warburg's captain was happy with Warburg's work over the last four weeks; Marc Rosenberg was promoted to Professor of Arts and Crafts, which is not quite a professorship in art history; he will meet Rosa [von Günzburg] next day in the afternoon; is not happy with Bella Homburger and 'mischpoche' [family]; wants to know where Franziska [Jahns], Fritz [Warburg] and Louise [Warburg] are and where Moritz [Warburg] and Max Warburg want to go for their summer holidays |
