Contentsthe previous evening he returned from a five day trip to Boston and Cambridge; Jim [James Loeb] accompanied him; thanks them for letters, three weeks is a long time to get a reply; two days after Paul's and Nina's wedding, Jim and Warburg went to Boston and Harvard in order to look at academic establishments there and to meet Professor [Charles E.] Norton; Jim showed him around; calls Jim 'a thoroughly pure and good soul' and not as pushy as his family; Warburg was very impressed by Boston, Harvard university, the museum, public library, Athenäum give witness of a way of thinking which is much larger than in Germany; he greatly enjoyed his conversation with Norton, 'the most agreeable hours of my life'; 'it was one of these conversations where one feels that one has spoken, not in order to be heard or understood, but to assure each other of one's inner common ground'; mentions painted buffalo skins, but has not learnt more about them; there were no painted skins in the museum in Cambridge; he plans to travel to Washington in the coming week
