| Contents | he is settling in to the apartment, arranging books etc.; he has dusted the books which was a very good exercise, as he could identify a Portuguese coat-of-arms on a Dutch manuscript in Munich; Warburg started to read the Guidetti - Ricordi, but did not find much; is working like an automaton, 'hypnotized by a wizard to eat the dust of archives'; complains about the scirocco; he spent the previous day in Pisa, [Heinrich] Embden will tell her about it; Warburg has long conversations with André [Jolles] on his intellectual development; Tilli [Mathilde Jolles] is a wonderful woman; two days ago he visited [Robert and Philippine] Davidsohn and they exchanged 'wise malicious remarks'; Warburg likes Mary's letter, is convinced that their separation, 'holidays from the marriage', will do them good; advises Mary to enjoy her two children; he will keep Adelia and employ an additional maid; Mrs. [F.] Davidsohn will help him find one; he finds Florence only 'indirectly beautiful', it is very dirty; wants to know how much weight Max Adolph is putting on; Warburg would have liked to hear the music at Trudel's [Gertrud Carr] wedding; he has bought bath sponges; is cross with himself as he has made a mistake, he remembered the date of their wedding anniversary wrongly |
