Contentsthanks for letters; is pleased that her food parcels have arrived; is pleased that [Aby Warburg and Mary Warburg] have pasta to cook; is annoyed that she learns cooking, but nothing that one can use in a big city; she has learnt to cook without fat, with litte or black flour, little sugar; she will send bread again; advises Mary not to send Frede to the teacher [Gustav] Wendt, but to the teacher Mitell; Marietta is looking forward to seeing the little baby of Hanna [Johanna Hertz]; Miss Buchwald has been teaching baby care; Marietta will ask Miss Wirschinger abut lambing, but is sure that it is not dangerous; Marietta will not return to Hamburg with her friend Olga Franke; Marietta and Suse went for a walk at 5 am, to the fir trees, the view from there over the valleys is wonderful; spring is coming, the sun is hot, she has picked violets, she heard thrushes and finches; a gardener was employed to help Miss von Kreß with the Zehlersgut and the 'Taubergarten' [garden of the school]; she is revising for her school leaving exams; Herta Goldschmidt saw the baby [Maria Dorothea Hertz] and is astonished how small she is; in two weeks Marietta will be back in Hamburg
