| Contents | Norden and his assistant left in the morning, wanted to visit relatives of his wife in Altona on his return journey to Berlin; he is enthusiastic about the library, will write to Warburg soon; many professors attended the [Carl Friedrich Michael] Meinhof lecture in Kantgesellschaft, but even so Norden's lecture was well attended; very interesting, but doubts whether it was a really scholarly lecture; Saxl will write about it to Warburg; Dr. [Ludwig] Münz commented that it was too 'full of effects' to be really scholarly; Norden spoke about prophesies in classical antiquity, Vergil etc., about saviours of the world, the son of the sun who will usher in a new era, a virginal birth, resurrection and other miracles; he also quoted from Warburg's Luther book; after the lecture Mary served tea in her drawing room, Mary also invited Mr. and Mrs. [Max Albert Wilhelm] Lenz, Frieda Hübner played the piano, Beethoven, Schumann; a very lovely evening together with Norden, as he had met Plasberg the previous day |
