ContentsSaxl brought him a lovely card from Mary; is certain that Saxl's presence will be used by staff to engage in some devilish act; he can only sense what it might be, as he can no longer grasp reality fully; he is treated like a patient in a hospital, soap, washing, food, hears people shout, somebody threw something into the window on the next storey; beautiful autumn weather; whether Saxl will get back safely, this is the question!; has received a long letter from Max Adolph and Warburg will reply when he has more time; on 22/09/1922 he expects Kurt Hahn and Mrs. Richter; on Catena, he will remember the name of the master; Saxl told him about the library and the great plan to incorporate the library into academic institutions, if the house in Rabenstrasse would have been bought; Warburg had no idea about it, Max Warburg has hinted at it once; is very sorry that the [Carl] Robert library was not purchased by the Bibliothek Warburg; Saxl told him that [Panofksy] competes with Saxl, it would be a pity if through Sax's Habilitation the Bibliothek Warburg would suffer; [Gustav] Pauli also wrote that Panofsky was running art historical seminars in Kunsthalle; the prices on the trams are very high; would like it if [Gustav] Pauli visited him, Panofsky as well, if he could get the travel expenses reimbursed; Kurt Binswanger told Warburg that the aim of Warburg's treatment was recovery and return to Hamburg, but Warburg cannot believe it; Saxl will tell her more about it; Saxl also asked Warburg to tell Mary, that Warburg should not be excluded from decision making in the library; has the feeling that Saxl hits the wrong note in his lectures; the one in Religionswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft was met with opposition; has Mary attended Saxl's lecture?; Saxl is very nervous or agitated, but Warburg likes him very much; still no letter from [Heinrich] Embden; Saxl took a whole lot of books away with him to be returned to Hamburg; although Saxl is nervous, Warburg feels that his library is in good hands with Saxl; Ludwig Binswanger did not meet Saxl, although he was in Kreuzlingen; greetings to Max Adolph, Frede, Detz [Marietta Warburg]; Saxl will be in Hamburg on 21/09/1922
