| Contents | Saxl has arrived, very pleased with his stay for two days in Kreuzlingen; reported that Warburg was calm; will speak to Saxl longer when he has dealt with visitors like [Karl] Rathe, etc.; thanks for letters, also from Nurse Lydia; Saxl has not said a word to Mary about difficulties in connection with his 'Habilitation'; it is disgusting, that Ritter made disparaging comments behind Saxl's back [cf. 18/09/1922, Aby Warburg to Mary Warburg]; Mary is sorry that they were not able to buy the [Carl] Robert library, but she did not have enough authority to convince Felix [Warburg]; advises Warburg not to worry about the finance situation; the brothers have decided to finance the library, they will have to be prepared to spend large sums; Lölchen [Lola] du Bois and Fanny [Lili du Bois-Reymond's daughters] arrived in Hamburg the previous day; Lili du Bois-Reymond could live well if they could sell Eumaion and all the land; Lili would also give private tuition; Lili together with Lola [du Bois-Reymond] will move to Hamburg and will stay with [Heinrich und Gertrud] Embden; next day the Warburgs will celebrate Jewish New Year at [Julius and Louise] Derenberg's; she has not congratulated Warburg on the New Year in time; Saxl adds: he has arrived safely in Hamburg, has spoken to [Heinrich] Embden who has sent a letter ten days ago; Embden will write again and is looking forward to his visit on 08/10/1922; Warburg's children are fine; Saxl has sent a written account to Fritz Warburg who will forward it to New York; expresses his happiness that the two days together did not agitate Warburg, but allowed him to stay calm |
