Contentsre application for grant by K. Hendrik; Panconcelli-Calzia supplied background information on Hendrik, a Pole, former Catholic priest, but not a strong student; Panconcelli-Calzia is not in favour that Hendrik submits his 'Habilitation' in Hamburg University; forwards thank-you letter by Miss Lucy Lamont Gavit; praises the Americans' understanding of the work of KBW; wants his brothers to acknowledge that the American mentality is receptive to Warburg's thoughts, his mix of 'pastoral care and scholarship', whether or not he travels to the US; wants Max Warburg to show the letter also to Erich Warburg; thanks him for the text of his speech in Kiel; Warburg learnt a great deal of Max Warburg's views, calls him 'living proof' of the principle of interaction between personal freedom and acceptance of the need of the community; encourages him to write a 'catechism for responsible young merchants'; Max Warburg as the private banker and Warburg as the private scholar have both been successful in their fields: both allowed private interest to develop into something which benefits the public; Edgar Breitenbach attended the Conference of Librarians in Göttingen and mentioned that Dr. Albert Hartmann, Department of Mss, Munich, told him how happy he was having met Bing and that the Munich State Library forwards books to KBW of all the libraries in North Germany without questions asked as they know that KBW is pursuing scholarly research [dated 06/06/1928 on pages 2 and 3]
