HistoryStudied Painting in Düsseldorf and Munich (1886-1899). In Munich met Alexej von Jawlensky and Rudolph Czapek; co-founder of the Münchner Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst (1902) together with Karl Bertsch and Adelbert Niemeyer, which merged with the Dresdner Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst (1907), to become the Deutsche Werkstätten für Handwerkskunst Hellerau. Well known for his paintings of Brahms and Reger and the fresco cycle "Die ewige Welle" (1912-18).
