| Contents | is happy that she understands him, the air in Florence is not good and when one of his friends, Ernst Burmeister, fell ill, everybody became depressed; if somebody in the family falls ill, the family rallies round; but it is different when one does not live at home; work is not always a way to get over moodswings; he was therefore very happy to accompany two people from Hamburg, Senator [Adolph Ferdinand] Hertz; and his daughter [Mary], on their tour of Florence; he enjoyed it particularly as 'Miss Hertz has a great deal of natural understanding'; Burmeister is still feverish, but slowly improving; Warburg is making progress in his studies, works long hours; he will talk about his life in Florence once he will be back in Hamburg |
