ContentsFelix writes to his parents that the medical examination went well, he would be allowed to do military service; he still thinks he might be rejected, but he will report to the authorities in Bockenheim; after the examination he went to Badenweiler where he met the whole Hamburg colony, the Simons, Oppenheims, Oppenheimer, Sanders; Mr. Simon looked very ill; Dr. Oppenheimer returned to Hamburg; Felix had a good time with aunt [Théophilie Warburg], Paul and Annes [recte Ännes Edinger?]; in the evening he travelled to meet Warburg in Karlsruhe and they went with Dr. Alfred Doren, Dr. Paul Ruben and fellow soldiers to the pub, sang student songs; mentions Dr. [Johann Nicolaus] Hertz; Warburg writes to his mother that due to the cooler weather he is much better; the medical doctor can sign him off, but once in the army you are either ill or well, there is no in-between stage; he is very pleased that Felix is with him; addresses a few lines to Olga and thanks her for a letter despite her embroidery work; sends greetings to Alice [Hallgarten]
