| Contents | she went to the exhibition in Kunsthalle, she saw a painting by [Max] Klinger, 'L'heure bleue', which made an enormous impression on her; thinks that Warburg might have seen it in Berlin; if only she knew what Klinger was thinking when painting it!; a private collector in Hamburg has bought it; there are also drawings illustrating songs by Brahms, etchings by [Max] Klinger, everything is great and wonderful; there are beautiful etchings and drawings from [Max] Liebermann, oils from Thomas, [Hermann von] Uhde, [Jules] Bastien-Lepage; she would like to be a modern painter; enjoyed reading Otto Brahm's biography; her Italian is still very poor; mentions Prof. [Emil] Heilbut; she will have her first sitting with Mary Hertz for the portrait painting on 06/04/1894; in the last few days she has been riding early in the morning; she met Hans Nirrnheim at Dr. Wohlwill's, Nirrnheim sends greetings; they expect Felix in the coming week and then Schiffs; she is very much looking forward to the visit of Helene [Schiff]; Paul Ruben's last lecture was very interesting but she is sure that he overworks himself; asks him about Klinger, does he know the work 'Komponisten am Meer'? |
