| Contents | she has met Olga who told her that Warburg was quite depressed; she does not write to Warburg in the expectation of an immediate reply; she is happy to write two or three letters before she expects his reply; thanks him for letters; both of them have to wait and see what will happen and they have to trust in each other; she has become very friendly with Olga Warburg, she is painting a portrait of Olga, but is not yet happy with the result; Mary has shown her paintings to Olga; Miss [Wilhelmine] Niels will go in the autumn to Paris for two years; is sorry to lose her teacher; she does not want to study under Schwinge; she does not know whether she will go on the painting course in the heath, as Miss [Bertha] de Voss [the companion of her mother] has been on sickleave for the last four weeks; instead she plans to spend some time with Miss [Wilhelmine] Niels in Moorburg in the summer; finds [Emil] Heilbut's tone not so radical; explains that J.H. Maris is a Dutch painter whose paintings are exhibited in Hamburg; M. Klinger's 'Crucifixion' is the greatest attraction of the exhibition; she has a problem, the more she is painting, the more she comes in conflict with her duties as daughter; on her progress in painting; asks him whether he will come to Hamburg in the summer; advises him to go to the seaside to avoid hayfever; is pleased that he met his friend Max L. [Strack]; how is Florence in springtime?; she is thinking of paintings by Arnold Böcklin showing the landscape around Florence; she thinks differently from Warburg, if there are no feast days to celebrate she is happy to put up with ordinary days; her brother [Adolph Jacob] will send him information re ships from Genoa to Hamburg |
