| Contents | she is enchanted by 'his' Florence, enjoys her stay tremendously; they visited Palazzo Pitti, Palazzo del Bargello, courtyard, crucifixion, S. Maria del Carmine with its beautiful frescoes, San Spirito, San Marco and 'the coronation of Mary'; the museum with the organlofts impressed her; a frieze by Donatello, frescoes in 'Chiostro del Scalzo', Palazzo Vecchio; the [Crown Prince] Prince of Naples drove in his carriage along the Corso, there were many people, elegant ladies, beautiful carriages; the next day the Warburg family will go to Landaus for tea; they have not yet met Mrs. Giorgetti, Dr. R. Davidsohn, Mrs. Rigutini-Weismann, Miss Krahnstöver; they have not met Elisa Bulle-Rigutini for a second time; Professor R. Gandolfi called on them and told them that there were no more copies of Warburg's article [I costume] with the printers; Gandolfi then asked Marchese Filippo Torrigiani who will forward copies of the 'Atti' to Warburg's parents; request Warburg's address in Berlin; the weather in Florence is very mild, the roads are beautifully surfaced, much better than Mittelweg; she likes walking through Florence with Alice [Hallgarten], looking at the old houses, into the shops, watching the hot chestnut sellers or cakes being fried in the streets; she likes the street scenes, people standing around and discussing; she is very happy with the hotel, Irene serves them at tables; mentions Wisotzkys; mentions the landlady of [Pensione] 'Albini' [Aimée Albini]; [Aby Warburg and Mary Warburg] plan to leave in two weeks and stay for one week in Venice; reminds him to congratulate Olga on her birthday on 04/11/1896 |
