| Contents | the previous evening she visited her mother and Warburg's mother [Charlotte Warburg]; she also visited aunt Malchen [Amalie Goldschmidt]; Moritz Warburg and Julius Derenberg went to a concert; in the morning she met Mrs. [Ida] Robinow, in the afternoon Dr. [L.] Klages; Klages tried to explain to her his philosophy which he wants to impart to a small select group of people only; Klages is trying to find funds for six months in order to finish his book; his friend [Friedrich] Huch is in Hamburg; Hamburg is the worst possible city for him, as people will view him either as madman or as dreamer; Anna Blumenfeld is trying her level best to introduce him to people who might understand him; Blumenfeld is organising an evening where Fr. Huch will read from his books; Mary confesses that she likes people like Klages; Klages saw Marietta and was enthralled by her, her face expressing a mixture of sober understanding and phantasy; Max Adolph is teething, Mary will buy for him root of violet and boil it up in milk; Mary is not exhausted by breastfeeding her baby son herself, but she is still quite round; she has little time for visiting; the building work in the house is nearly finished, the damp wall in the maids' room will be repaired shortly; Mary has not bought the curtains for the dining room; the maids Anna and Henny work very well; how is Warburg getting on with Pietro Rossi?; Alice [Warburg] is steadily getting better; Olli [Olga Kohn-Speyer] sent a letter to Mary; Mary liked the funerary monument by [Hugo] Lederer for Mrs. Robinow; describes it in detail; saw also the tall winged genius of the Schutte monument made by sculptor [Fritz] Behn [Hamburg Ohlsdorfer Friedhof (1901)]; Emmy Jauch sends greetings |
