| Contents | the meeting with [Georg] Loeschcke went well the previous day; Loeschcke gave him information on the chances of being appointed in Bonn; he then advised him to visit [Paul] Clemen, as he is head of the department; Clemen was very understanding; they discussed [Fritz] Burger's candidacy [for teaching Italian art history]; Clemen wants a teacher for Italian art history and understood that it was important for Warburg to find an academic post; for Warburg it was an approach which he attempted out of consciousness, quotes [Ernst] Schwedeler-Meyer, 'in a Hamburg kitchen nothing is allowed to perish'; Warburg was told that the Faculty will make it as easy as possible for Warburg to get his 'Habilitation'; [Georg] Karo has been elected Secretary of the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut in Athen, due to [G.] Loeschcke's recommendation in Berlin; his promotion is a loss for Bonn; complains about his digestion, suffers from diarrhoea; hopes to meet Friedaflix [Felix and Frieda Warburg] in Cologne the next day; Clemen said that Luttich was not worth a trip, however the exhibition of tapestries in Brussels was exquisite; there will be a re-enactment of historic tournament on 13/08/1905; Warburg wants to visit old Hofrat [Carl] Aldenhoven in Cologne the next day; Warburg met Aldenhoven by chance the previous day, at the railway station, when Warburg was looking for Felix [Warburg], but could not find him; 'in this way one becomes oneself a victim of modes of transport'; Warburg met Clemen's wife, very pretty, expecting a baby; Warburg has spoken on the phone with [Heinrich] Embden who assured him that the children are fine; sends kisses to the children |
