Contentsthanks her for letters and cables; is very pleased that Luise [Louise Derenberg] had a girl [Ruth]; he has been to the Centenary Exhibition and finds it very good; he spoke to an employee, Korn, who envied him being an independent scholar; Warburg corrected Korn's views about the blissful existence of a private scholar and thought 'if only you knew how I envy every healthy person'; what can one do if one's physician's advice is that the hypochondria might be much worse; finds that [Heinrich Embden] is impatient with Warburg; Warburg visited Bode, who was well; Warburg admires Bode's energy but finds it almost pathological; Bode has not seen the collection Nobili in Florence and has not spoken with [Giovanni] Poggi; Warburg does not understand how this was possible; on developments in the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, Bode has achieved it that Althoff did not pursue the idea to affiliate the Institute to a museum; he spent a lovely time with [Max J.] Friedländer; confesses that he loves Mary and the children; calls her a 'busybody'
