| Contents | reminds her to send him a cable with the times of her arrival in Berlin; asks her to bring him his trusses; asks her to bring tail coat, black hat, the new black leather notecase; asks her to send condolences to Dr. Branch and Professor Johnsen, Bonn, condolences on the death of old Mr. Brach; wants to know of Mr. Meyer in Harburg; Warburg did not visit Magdeburg; Warburg has as meeting with [Karl] Koetschau in Berlin; promises her to visit Magdeburg in the not too distant future; he received a letter from Mrs. Becker; he received a letter from Schmarsow who was very complimentary about Warburg's article; it pleased Warburg very much; when comparing the two letters, he finds Mrs. Becker's letter the emotionally much deeper one, whereas Schmarsow's letter is an example of a tortured schoolmaster who cannot hide his origins; also [Georg] Gronau sent a good letter; he enjoyed visiting Goslar, the walk through the Bodetal was lovely, although the other tourists ['parasitical rabble on holiday'] spoil the enjoyment; enjoyed seeing the 'Brusttuchhaus' in Goslar; asks her to tell [Heinrich and Gertrud] Embden and Petersens how grateful Warburg was for having such good travel companions; he has sent a box of blocks of wood for his son to build a ship; Mary to keep it back until Christmas |
