| Contents | on a meeting of the local committee of the International Congress of the History of Art; the local committee did not work very well so that Warburg had to organise a number of things which ought to have been organised by others; [Rudolf] Kautzsch and [Friedrich] Back were totally overwhelmed with work and the others did not care; at the dinner on the previous evening there was no order of seating, no order for proposing toasts; [Andreas] Aubert, from Norway, spoke very movingly; [Josef] Strzygowski's poor and schoolmasterly leadership was disastrous; his student, [Otto Erich] Deutsch, told Warburg that Strzygowski had never done anything like that beforehand; the congress was valuable for Warburg as he met interesting people; Miss [Rosa] Schapire behaved badly, ridiculous, affected; Warburg had to make jokes, entertain the participants and feels exhausted; he will go to Mannheim the next day |
