| Contents | forwards a letter by Mrs. Becker; Mary can tell her that Warburg has been in touch with the editor for some time, but could not report back to her because the negotiations have not yet been concluded [the publication of the translation by Bianca Emilie Rohland-Becker, known as 'Milly' of the Alessandra Strozzi letters]; Mrs. [Lili] du Bois-Reymond has written to Warburg and offered to send Fänchen [her daughter Fanny du Bois-Reymond] to help Mary, even if Mary wants to go on holiday in Wengen; Fänchen is apparently very nervous herself and Mrs. Leo [Lili's sister Cécile?] also suffers from 'nervous frustration' which she wants to cure in Wengen; informs her that Ballin had an appendectomy, which went very well, his heart was strong enough; Dr. Goldscheider is very pleased with the result of the operation;Warburg went walking with the children, enjoyed their boisterous behaviour; Detta [Marietta Warburg] and her friends performed 'Der Erlkönig' at Hildegard [Jauch?]'s; Gertrud Wulff brought her rocking horse as prop; on the way to the performance the rocking horse lost its tail, a coalman shouted out and brought it back to them; a 'Kränzchen' took place the previous evening, it was a nice evening, only [Friedrich] Keutgen cannot make conversation; sends greetings to Mary, Fritz [Warburg] and Mutting [Charlotte Warburg] |
