Contentsthanks him for letter; he does not have to worry about the water quality in Hamburg, everybody is very careful; they do not go swimming; she will contact Alice [Warburg] about having the water in her house checked; Mary went to her mother the previous day where she met Portens; their son Walter and his wife had a child; [Max von der] Porten said that he had sent Warburg his book on Kant ['Die Grundlagen der Kant'schen Philosophie'] but Warburg had not acknowledged receipt; Max [Warburg] told Mary that [Hermann] Bruck had been given a painting commission [by Hamburg-Amerika Linie [HAL]]; Max advised Ballin to call a meeting with [Fritz] Schumacher to put him in charge of painting commissions for Hamburg-Amerika Linie ships; apparently, Germans were dissatisfied that Norddeutscher Lloyd employs German painters, whereas HAL does not; Warburg's involvement with HAL seems to have had at least one good outcome; Ballin also said that Warburg erroneously thought that his consultancy post was a voluntary post, whereupon Max countered that, as a matter of course, nothing else was ever mentioned; Ballin then agreed with Max; Max has to prepare his lecture on the university question; Mary was very happy with his letter in which he mentioned the salamander; could he send one in a box, with food, to Hamburg?; the 'Luftschiff' offprints will be sent soon; she wanted to start working on Lene's bust, but Wessely had not delivered the clay; instead of sculpting she went for a walk with Lene [Magdalene Hertz] in Borstel; the children are fine; she is still planning to go on the walk with Wilhelm [Hertz]; Charlotte Warburg wants to move into town on 08/10/1913; the Jewish holidays will be on 2nd and 3rd October; she does not know when Malice [Max and Alice Warburg] would move back to town
