Contentsit was important that Warburg went to Berlin, it was important to counteract the views that the 'Rivista' was unnecessary; too many pamphlets have been published about Italy, a certain amnesia has set in; even M. Erzberger said that to continue with 'Rivista' would not be useful; but Warburg remarked that 'Rivista' was well received in Italy and Erzberger then said he would speak up for it in the ministry; if only Germany could get Austria to make a few political concessions!; everybody liked the idea that Warburg wanted to go to Italy, von Bode was very pleased; Warburg went to Ullstein publishers and got their promise that they would supply illustrations for a second edition of 'Rivista'; when Thilenius asked Ullstein the same thing, his request was refused; the Foreign Office and the War Office work against each other, so that taking photographs is very difficult; he spent the previous evening in Adolph Goldschmidt's club; he met at dinner [Max] Liebermann, Gerhart Hauptmann, the sculptor [Hugo] Lederer, [Hermann] Ebbinghaus, who spoke very critically of Hambüchen, the architect Hoffmann, Gaul, Fritz von Mendelssohn, Reusch, Bischoff, Bruno Paul [Cassirers?] and [Theodor] Wiegand, director of the archaeological museum; Wiegand, friend of Max L. Strack and [Erich] Ziebarth, had lived in the Orients; next evening he will go to a meeting of the Archaeological Society, on 10/12/1914 he and Max [Warburg] will visit Adolph Goldschmidt, on 11/12/1914 [Werner] Weisbach and afterwards [Paul] Schubring in Kunstgeschichtliche Gesellschaft; Warburg will return on 12/12/1914, he wants to await [Kurt Nikolaus Zoege von] Manteuffel's return to Berlin and his report; it is not very cold, asks Mary to send him a lighter coat; hopes that Mary's mother is getting better
