| Contents | she is waiting for mail from him; weather is getting more spring-like; forwards a letter by [Carl] Jost, thinks that Warburg will be cheered up by it; Jost is a very good chap, if the average German soldier is like him then they have nothing to fear; they will send him what he requests, as a matter of course; Saxl's daughter [Hedwig Saxl] and Mrs. Elise Saxl are staying with Mary in Heilwigstrasse; when Saxl had to report to the army, Mrs. Saxl could not travel with him as the baby had just been vaccinated; Saxl went ahead to Vienna, but there were difficulties with the family so that it was not clear whether Mrs. Saxl should leave Hamburg at all; Mrs. Saxl was very unhappy, everything was packed, she wanted to go to Vienna on her own and leave the baby in Hamburg with Mary; Mary would have agreed to do so but thinking of Warburg's views on responsible living decided not to suggest it; Mary persuaded Mrs. Saxl to wait in Hamburg and to move to Heilwigstrasse; she is no bother, she looks after the baby herself; the Warburg children are very happy about the baby, styled 'Pöppi'; sends greetings to Warburg styled 'Wremlsig' |
