Contentsacknowledges receipt of many letters and thanks her; returns copies of letters by [Carl] Jost, von Bode, Max [Warburg]; he is still waiting for the letter by [Paul] Clemen; asks her to number her letters; he arrived in Rome the previous evening very late, there were problems with the trainline, landslides; they had to turn back in Chiusi, but he had occasion to speak with interesting people in his compartment, from Palermo, Turin; the man from Turin was a Nietzsche expert, none of them would welcome a war against Germany; in Rome he had lunch with [Paul Gustav] Hübner in the hotel and will visit Hübners next day in the evening; he visited Hermanin who had to go to the earthquake region and spoke of the disastrous situation there; 'one can strengthen many people in their belief'; Hindenburg is a good chap; the navy respects him very much
