| Contents | thanks him for cable telling her of his return to Florence and acknowledging having received her letters; hopes that she has not alarmed Warburg too much when writing about her mother the previous day; Mary's mother's condition has not improved, Mary has spoken to Dr. [Paul] Aly, he seems to think that the kidney attack will pass; he does not want to consider an operation yet; Mary does not want that Warburgw rushes back home to Hamburg, he cannot contribute anything simply by being in Hamburg; the previous evening was the first lecture evening in her house; [Wilhelm] Niemeyer spoke about war poetry in five centuries, very good, but too long; Charlotte Warburg also attended, also Mrs. Martin Goldschmidt [Louise Goldschmidt, née Arnold]and Mrs. Pontoppidan; the lectures do not require any preparation from Mary, she does not have to provide refreshments; the son of Dr. Aly, in the airforce, was killed in France; [Percy Ernst?] Schramm was in East Prussia when the big battle raged; the victory is great! |
