| Contents | thanks him for his cable from Florence; hopes that the train journey went well and that the room in the hotel is acceptable; forwards mail for him, also a letter by Miss Margaret [Thurnham] and newspaper cuttings from 'The Times'; she cannot forward the article [in 'The Times' mentioning Paul Warburg and Jacob [Schiff], as Max [Warburg] wants to have it copied first and sent to Paul [Warburg]; Max said Mary should not send the article to Warburg; [Wilhelm] Waetzoldt wrote a very sad letter, he had hoped to see Warburg at the railway station but missed him; Waetzoldt is getting better, but the children have whooping cough; the previous day only Malice [Max and Alice Warburg] and Mary visited Charlotte Warburg for the Friday evening meal; [Carl] Melchior seems to have had a very interesting time in P. [Poland]; Frede received a number of cards from the soldier to whom she sent a Christmas present, W. Huart; Huart sends short greeting cards and very nice long letters; he is a roofer, from Breslau; the children are well, Detta [Marietta Warburg] is great friends with the Konow and Karl Rathgen girls; mother Warburg has invited Detta [Marietta Warburg] to a concert rehearsal, [Edyth] Walker is singing; Mary asks him to tell her everything as he finds it without glossing things over |
