| Contents | he has to instal a strong beam so that they can shoot down aeroplanes also at night; thanks Warburg for letter and for books by Weber, [Rudolf] Kjellén, Frost, [Enno Friedrich Wichard Ulrich von Wilamowitz-Moellendorff]; enjoyed reading Frost the most; the book ['Preußische Prägung'] by [Lucia Dora] Frost is 'nearly too intelligent' for a woman, he can hardly accept that it has been written by a woman; his wife also sends him books, praises her, how the war has matured her; admires her how calm and serene she is, a good mother to bring up her children; never in his life has he lived with fewer worries; true, the worry about the fatherland is omnipresent, when reading [Ernst von] Heydebrand or 'Kreuzzeitung' he is getting nervous; the war will have to last longer so that they can get rid of the old ways of doing things and embrace the new times; he was very happy to read in 'Frankfurter Zeitung', that people in Hamburg want to reform the suffrage after the war; it is not so much a question of suffrage, but of a new mentality; he has done his bit, preparing for it, with his work in the Volksheim; a reform of the legal authorities is required; thinks that the war will last another 9 months; speaks of Verdun, the Zeppelin attacks; hopes for good reports from the front along the Tigris |
