ContentsMax and Alice [Warburg] visited him at lunchtime; he had only one concern: to show Max that he cannot stay any longer in [Hans] Berger's sanatorium; but Max did not want to hear of it; this is an impossible situation, Warburg needs to get back home; thanks her for sending him Max Adolph's pastels, they are painted 'efficiently' and cheered him up; as Warburg is not allowed to go to the post office, he returns the copy book of essays [by Max Adolph] with Max Warburg; thanks for soap and chocolates; he is eating too much, mainly potatoes; it seems that Mary has not received his letter of 30/11/1920 where he told her about Villa Matthes as she only talked about the dance party; is astonished that Boll sent the [Luther book] proofs to Warburg in Jena; wants to know why Saxl has written to Boll that Saxl was in Jena and Boll should send the proofs to Jena; this was patently wrong; expects Saxl soon, also Mary and [Heinrich] Embden, they have to take him back to Hamburg, if only to the lunatic asylum Friedrichberg; he could try another sanatorium, if he gets drugs which sedate him, he will be calm; the previous day he visited Mrs. [Frieda] Brandis for tea; 'Hamburger Fremdenblatt' has not been delivered; her has to go to bed at 7 pm and eat in bed which is dreadful; wants to hear more about the performance in which Frede plays a part; fears that his mail is being withheld; the greatest poison for him is his loneliness, he cannot trust anybody; Lili du Bois-Reymond has sent a letter and writes charmingly about Max Adolph
