| Contents | thanks for three letters; Doren has rung her and written to her about his visit to Warburg, Saxl has reported without trying to make things seem better; is sad that Warburg's only thought is to get back home, that he tortures himself with dreadful ideas and worries; he can be assured that his family is well, they are all fine; she will talk to [Heinrich] Embden how she can help Warburg; is very happy that he likes Mary's pastel [of Bösdorf]; she will try to send him whatever toiletries he required; does not know whether Mr. Pahl will be ready to go to Jena to cut Warburg's hair; there surely must be barbers to his liking in Jena, otherwise he will look like Struwwelpeter ['tousled-hair Peter'] when she sees him; on the staff situation in the house, she kept all three of them as it is very uncertain whether she can find better staff; she will have to look for new staff only if Warburg returns and wants new staff; the previous evening Mary and Lili du Bois-Reymond visited Ulrich Leo at Liepmanns'; Warburg should not be astonished that Marietta is interested in dance, it is her only relaxation after hard studying all day long |
