ContentsAlice Ruperti is with Frede, Frede will write soon; Warburg's present, the Conrad Ferdinand Meyer book, arrived from Frommann the previous day; Frede was very happy about it; Mary could have told Warburg that Betty [Elisabeth Maria Franke] would not be able to visit him in Jena the previous day, because her son Heinz had his confirmation on the Sunday, 13/03/1921; why does Warburg think that Betty's card and [Heinrich] Embden's letter have been forged?; if only she could cheer him up with her letters now as she was able to do many years ago!; she did not know that her 'Spruchbuch' was a help to him or that he even read it; explains Schwisow's visit in Jena: Detta [Marietta Warburg] knew that he was friends with Hammers and had heard that he was in Jena and so she thought that Schwisow's visit would cheer up Warburg; she could not know that Warburg would find him unappealing; Mary does not know the name of the owner of the house in Lungo Mugnone; is looking forward to the telephone conversation the next day
