| Contents | is unhappy with her last letters, she does not comment on his letters; he has to ask other people to post his letters, Matron Knobloch of Villa Tannegg [in the sanatorium]; [Heinrich] Embden was unable to give him an explanation why Max Warburg has not written to Warburg; he has no money to buy postage stamps; Embden stayed only for a very short time; cannot understand the 'affair' with the négligé [leisure suit], mother [Charlotte Warburg] wanted to buy it from Bethge & Selzer and not from another firm; he had a cheerful letter from Marietta, describing the paintings of the children in the children's homes; but her handwriting seemed unfamiliar; he is thinking of past times; food is very bad; he has lost a feeling for what is right, as if he were paralysed; why has Mary difficulties in reading his handwriting?; he has not yet seen a copy of his Luther book; asks her to read it, as the book is dedicated to her; is annoyed that their last meeting [in Jena] was so short and fractious; wants Frede to attend school; has read an article by Wilhelm [Hertz] in 'Hamburger Fremdenblatt' about the [W.C.C.?] Heyden affair; Warburg is given too many sleeping pills; Mary's drawing of 'Pieter' was correct |
