| Contents | thanks him for two letter; Nurse Frieda reported on Warburg's birthday; is sorry that the photographs she took in Hamburg were blurred; the picture of Mary in her old summer dress has been taken by Frede; is certain that his birthday was celebrated in style, even if he missed his family; was very happy that she, Frede and Marietta could be together on his birthday; Festenburg is only a small hamlet, a home for railway workers, the children home with stables, an inn 'Zur Grünen Tanne' and two forest warden houses; it is situated between Zellerfeld and Hahnenklee near Schalketal; Irmgard [Dahm] is very friendly with all the neighbours, in particular the Tolle family, the innkeeper; and the forest warden Jürgens; Marietta teaches Frede cooking, cleaning, they have time for walks in the afternoon as there are no children boarding as yet; Mary wants Frede and Marietta to stay for the whole summer holidays, [Heinrich] Embden has advised her to send Frede into the mountains; at home in Hamburg everything is fine, Dühren has resumed her duties again, she only feels pains when walking; Paula Dräger, the new lodger, has not yet arrived; hopes that Warburg will soon receive letters from Pauli, [Carl Georg] Heise, [Artur] Weese etc.; forwards a letter by [P] Flemming; Mary has not spoken with her brother Wilhelm [Hertz] about the Heyden affair, she has not seen him often lately; replies about aunt Malchen's [Amalie Goldschmidt's] saying: was it 'Ich bin ganz meschugge'?; Luise Elkan, from Krefeld, has asked Mary about [the domestic science school in] ]Rothenburg |
