Contentsis annoyed as he had no letter the previous day; is angry with her, implores her not to write to him that she knows he will behave badly, whether in Hamburg or Jena; they cannot understand how he is being tortured in Jena; Max Warburg wrote him a very pessimistic letter after having heard [Heinrich] Embden's report; 'Jena is to Hamburg like limbo to hell' [Warburg might have inadvertently inverted the meaning and possibly meant the opposite]; is waiting for her, could she come in 3 to 4 weeks?; his memory is failing, he is 'incoherent', like a 'torn filmstrip'; nobody is caring for his laundry, repairs; orders cleaning fluids from Orth drugstore; could Pahl come and cut his hair?; orders stationery; comments on Marietta's school, finds it 'strange', it would be better for Marietta to enrol in a degree course; Frede should sit her A-levels, a mix of a new kind of training and university studies is 'too problematical'; on his diet, he is not properly fed, is hungry, is given wrong food for diabetics; is weak; why does he have to wait any longer until the house in Hamburg has been sorted out at last?; could Wilhelm [Hertz] visit, [Otto] Franke, Julius [Derenberg], has she written to Pastor Jahn; she needs to finds a successor to Bertha Lindner; could the door between his bedroom and the periodical room of the library be opened up again?; wants to sit in his little corner at home; being sectioned would mean vivisection, being buried alive; tells her to tell Saxl that Warburg finds the report on 'Melancholie' [Saxl's lecture in Berlin] very interesting; Saxl should insert [Richard] Salomon's name in the list of people he thanks
