| Contents | the 'swines' manage to kill him, with Veronal, chocolate, hot baths, hurrying him up, poor quality soap; only a short time till the silver wedding anniversary, but the people around him are hostile; Kurt Binswanger told him that Dornseiff will not come, although he was due to come on 09/09/1922; is anxious because Kurt Hahn has not visited either, is convinced that something dreadful has happened; it is odd that Mary does not write anything about 'Resolute', Max Warburg, etc; one year ago Malice [Max and Alice Warburg] came with Lola by car to Kreuzlingen; although he enjoyed their visit, his doubts about the identity of all his visitors started then; doubts whether the telephone connection is secure, his calls to Alice [Warburg] in St. Blasien, St. Moritz, then to Mary in Zurich seemed dubious; Max Adolph visited him 14 weeks ago, but disappeared like a 'harassed ghost'; only Boll's visit makes him realize the certainty of life outside the sanatorium, but this might be self delusion; he is waiting for Saxl's visit and then Mary's visit; thanks for photographs of Bing, Frede and Clara Hertz; Kurt Binswanger permits the visit by Saxl; sends greetings to [Wilhelm] Waetzoldt, asks Mary to have Waetzoldt sign one of her letters; has Waeztoldt been in Padua [with Aby and Mary Warburg many years ago]? |
