| Contents | is sad because his 'Buttje' [Max Adolph Warburg] has gone; is happy that Lili du Bois-Reymond's daughters liked Mary's bust; does not agree with Mary's characterisation of Prinzhorn, he is not 'dreadfully nice', but one of the most calculating men; Heinrich Embden should not do conducted tours in the library, should leave this job to Warburg!; when will Embden come?; if only Max Adolph arrived safely in Heidelberg!; the train connections are very haphazard; when Saxl will depart next day, Warburg will suffer, has already craving for sweet things; on Max Adolph, Warburg worries about him, he does not seem to be happy with his studies, prefers painting; Warburg handed the slides back to Saxl, is very sad; Warburg told him not to show his pictures to anybody without Warburg's permission; Saxl is not allowed to publish the text; Saxl may show the manuscript to Mary and may read selected passages to Max Warburg, Embden and Cassirer; Saxl must not use the slides for his own lectures, because Saxl's lectures are, with regard to 'expression and tone of voice', dreadful; why can Mary not find the little key to the folder of pictures which Warburg has in Kreuzlingen?; asks Embden to bring him lanolin, iodine; wonders what Saxl will report of the lecture; Ludwig Binswanger has nothing against Warburg returning to Hamburg, but will do nothing to prepare it; his hernia, the situation with the railways, etc. make everything that much more difficult; he urges that the attempt of his return to Hamburg has to be made, but Mary needs to employ nursing staff; if his nurse [Lydia] were not such a 'witch', he would like to employ her in Hamburg; he really needs [Franz] Alber as his companion; Saxl will bring them old photographs from Warburg's time in the USA; Frede may also keep a photograph of her as child; greetings to Datzen [Marietta Warburg], Frede, Emmachen [Emma Springer], 'Bücherstube' [library staff]; tells Mary to send Max Adolph a spring file; requests from Bing to report to him on serpent legends and their role in the iconoclastic controversy; addition by Nurse Lydia: the cable has arrived the previous day |
