| Contents | Hanna [Johanna Hertz] brought her a letter from [her husband] Wilhelm [Hertz], which Mary encloses; it is more than four weeks old; Hans [Hertz] could not find the name of the farmer in Ryzwick and the mayor of the village was not at home; he therefore stayed in another village, Haag, with a family who had helped him find the holiday job; Mary is happy that Wilhelm can go on a beautiful trip; Mary has read Warburg's letter to [Heinrich] Embden and has given it to Embden; tells him not to worry because of the children; she will be happy when they will have returned to Hamburg; she will then report on her impressions of Max Adolph; she would feel awful if there were an atmosphere between Warburg and the children; he is impatient, always expecting a reply immediately; Mary has written to Max Adolph about the increase in train fares; does not know when Marietta will leave her post, she is being paid for her work and cannot simply walk out; Mary visited Sita Schumacher the previous day, she also met Mrs. [Magdalena] Pauli and Carl Theodor Pauli; Mrs. Pauli looked ill, her son is very well after the stay at the beach resort; Mrs. Pauli worries about her daughter Liselotte, who had an appendectomy and afterwards a kidney complication; Mr. [Gustav] Pauli is not well, cannot sleep, is in Mecklenburg to regain his strength |
