Contentsthe previous day they had an early dinner, Family day, because Fritz Warburg and Julius [Derenberg] went to a lecture by [Leo] Frobenius in Überseeclub afterwards; they returned, full of enthusiasm, explained the lecture, the theory of cyclical culture; Warburg would have enjoyed it, would have understood more than anybody else; however, Mary remembers that Warburg was not very happy with Frobenius's book 'Und Afrika sprach'; Cassirer was not as enthusiastic, he said that the talented people were rarely scholars and the scholars were rarely talented; there are no thinner pencil leads, only 1570; she will send the red and black calendar cards in two weeks, when they will be printed for the New Year; on sending a copy of the [Carl] Justi book to Kreuzlingen: it has nothing to do with Warburg, Kurt Binswanger has asked Saxl to send him a copy; apologizes for having mentioned it; [Wilhelm] Lübke's 'Reallexikon' and 'Kleiner Ploetz' will be sent, also 'Glossarium' by [Alfred] Goetze; encloses reply by Dr. [H.] Sander [extant, after 06/12/1923] about Camillo Agrippa, but not very informative; Saxl will order books from Kommerzbibliothek and the book about 'Novi inventioni' in Berlin; she will try and find cufflinks the next time she goes into town; she will take small items to [Heinrich] Embden to bring Warburg, he will definitely visit Warburg before Christmas; Mary would be delighted, if Warburg returned for Christmas, but she cannot make the decision, Max Warburg has to do so; she will talk to [Heinrich] Embden about it; will Warburg move into Villa Roberta?; he used to climb stairs at home, will be able to do so in Roberta; on the change of government in England, hopes that it might be a change for the better; will talk with Panofsky and Saxl about the stone in 'Melencolia I'; encloses card by [H.] Lietzmann [extant, 05/12/1923]; suggests that Warburg sends boxes of chocolates to [Heinrich und Gertrud] Embden and Saxls
