| Contents | thanks for letter in which she explained her work on the drawings for Malice [Max and Alice Warburg]; thanks for calendar sheet in red ink; is very annoyed with Ludwig Binswanger, requesting more and more concessions from Warburg; the 'scoundrels' want to take away from him the last things, he has either to sit at a writing desk devoid of any personal items or he has to let everything stand there, even if he leaves the desk; they blackmail him; even a 'Gossler-Hertz' can understand the dreadful circumstances in which he has to live; does not see a way out of the next step, to share Villa Maria with the Nurse; he insists, he simply has to get into a different sanatorium, where he no longer has to contend with the comedy played by Kurt [Kurt Binswanger] and Robert [Binswanger] and Nurse Lydia; even his own library malfunctions, he does not get any support in his scholarly work; finds it incredibly tragic that Max Warburg does not understand that Warburg has to leave Kreuzlingen; they [Warburg and Mary Warburg] will simply have to move to Badenweiler!; thinks of Federchen [Frede Warburg], sitting her exams; congratulates her on her achievement, hopes that for her the A-levels are not an end in itself, but the key to something else; wants to present her with a new edition of Goethe's Faust, edited by [Georg] Witkowski; is annoyed that Mary does not have time to reply to Warburg's letters conscientiously, because she is busy with making illustrations [for the silver wedding of Max and Alice Warburg]; and what about Saxl and Bing, what are they doing?; Ludwig Binswanger told Warburg, that none of the doctors will be with Warburg, when Krauth will visit and try on the trusses, but that they will have the right to send him away again; only the wife of Dr. Wenger will be around; asks Mary to send Hartlaub a card requesting back the books borrowed by Hartlaub, Max Adolph will need them for his trip to Padua; requests a cable on Frede's exams; has tried to send a cable, has learnt that Frede did not have to do the oral exams; sends congratulations to Mary; greetings to Datzen [Marietta Warburg] und Frede; requests purchase of book by [Erich] Frank, 'Plato und die sogenannten Pythagoräer', which is something for Max Adolph on Dynamis, August Köster, 'Antikes Seewesen' [recte 'Die Nautik im Altertum'] and [Johannes] Leipoldt, 'Sterbende und auferstehende Götter' |
