| Contents | one week ago they [Warburg and Franz Alber] arrived in Italy; is pleased that they travel in a leisurely tempo; they missed a train connection in Basle, he had pains in the chest; they had a meal in the train with a woman from Pernambuco in Brazil who complained about the bad harbour there; in Milan they stopped in Palace Hotel; Alber and Warburg went to St. Eustorgio to see the 'Engelreigen' ['Dance of the Angels']; in the afternoon Bing arrived, bad has a boil on her foot which needed to be treated in Bologna; Alber was sent to Rimini to reconnoitre whether it was still full of tourists; they have visited Ferrara, Warburg found more material for his research; his old friend, Professor [Giuseppe] Agnelli, treated him very kindly; Warburg wanted to give a lecture to the Deputazione per la storia patria, but the suggestion was not taken up as the king was expected in Ferrara; in Bologna Warburg investigated the ceiling of the anatomical theatre; years ago Mary has helped him with the iconological assessment of the paintings; five star signs and nine fixed stars, friend Igino Benvenuto Supino put him in touch with the director of the Bologna university library, Sorelli, who collects prognostica; the director of the reading room, Lino Sighinolfi, wholeheartedly and enthusiastically supported Warburg's ideas; Warburg's idea, to make an iconological assessment of Tempio Malatestiano in Rimini, has been taken up by Giuseppe del Piano; Warburg is looking forward to reading his book which was reviewed in an Italian newspaper [Il Resto del Carlino] the same day; encloses the review for Mary and Saxl [not extant]; is annoyed about an article in 'Hamburger Fremdenblatt' which endangers the whole Planetarium project; forwards copy of his letter to the 'silly man' [Felix von] Eckardt [03/10/1928]; thanks her for cards from Bodensee; hopes that Marietta is well |
