| Contents | is annoyed that Miss Eva von Eckardt takes so many holidays; does not like that she takes days off for writing; what does [Heinrich] Embden think about this?; Warburg does no longer want to work with part time members of staff; has good research news: the aim of his research trip was to find the source for [Giordano] Bruno's 'spaccio della bestia trionfante' in a Hyginus moralisatus; Saxl found a book and sent it to him, written by Thomas Radinus, 'Sideralis Abyssus'; Warburg has bought it in 1910 and it is indeed the source for 'spaccio'; the author is a Dominican, the order of [Giordano] Bruno; with this discovery Warburg reckons to find his place among Italian intellectual historians; this discovery is a beautiful Christmas present by KBW to KBW; but only thanks to Bing's work they have time to read the difficult book together; the trip has paid for itself!; on a lunch at [C. H. K.] von Neurath's with Fürst and Fürstin Bülow, Nelson Gay who owns the largest private library about modern Italian history, a Germanophile American woman, Mrs. Würz, Neurath's son-in-law [Hans Georg Viktor] von Mackensen; is impressed by von Neurath's wisdom but is not certain whether he understands the importance of art history |
