Contentshopes that John [Johann Nicolaus Hertz] has informed her that one of Warburg's letters to John has got lost; this was really unfortunate as Warburg's family had not been kept up to date with the latest development; thanks her for letter, acknowledges that she is nursing her mother again; Warburg has not met Miss [Wilhelmine] Niels recently, he really did not feel well; he has improved and will stay for one more week; two days ago he again found drawings in the collection of Baron Edmond de Rothschild which are important for his research; it is very difficult to identify people, but he has found drawings and descriptions which will help him; this latest piece of research will be a companion piece to 'Costumi', he wants to demonstrate for France what he has demonstrated for Florence; in the years from 1555 to 1565/1570 festivals and theatrical productions developed in an important way in France just as much as in Florence; he will have to do research on the arazzi in Florence; calls it the 'daily bread' of his scholarship, as the 'cake of symbolism' does not pay for the household, scholarly or otherwise; hopes she understands how important it is for him to stay on in Paris; in order to complete his research he will have to work in England, because the 16th century produced its 'most mature fruit' in the Shakespearean tragedies; he plans to spend six weeks in London in the autumn; sends greetings to the 'tyrant' John [Johann Nicolaus Hertz]; it would be the best birthday present for Warburg if John could visit him; sends greetings to her family
