Contents | detailed reply to Schwedeler-Meyer's reaction on reading Warburg's article on the 'Burgundian tapestries'; explains what he attempted to do: 1. to link 'fine' art with 'decorative' art; 2. to place Northern art on par with monumental painting; counters the complaint that a great deal of concentration is required to read Warburg's articles by saying that it requires far more concentration to write them; Otto von Falke and Richard Ernst Graul of the Kunstgewerbemuseum have not even acknowledged receipt of Warburg's article, so that Warburg is heartened that Schwedeler-Meyer at least criticised it; only about 2 % of people acknowledged receipt of Warburg's article |
