| Contents | apologizes for late reply to Warburg's cards of 19 and 20/11/1917; the paintings in the City Museum had been photographed, 'The Siege of Wolfenbüttel' in large format; the light was very bad, the photograph is therefore not very good; the fee is Mark 15; the painting is based on a woodcut by Lucas Cranach the Younger, not his father; the woodcut is kept in Munich; he does not know a painter from the Cranach circle who signs his painting 'H', but he knows one who signs HS and a cross through the S; the painter lived in Leipzig and Augsburg; the painter painted 'Die Marter des Erasmus', in Aschaffenburg, 1516, die earliest work of the Cranach studio, illustrated in Flechsig's book 'Cranachstudien'; thanks him for a short newspaper note about Warburg's lecture [on Luther] |
