Contentsapologizes for late reply; upon returning to Europe he had many things to organise; he was not quite sure about his future work; Warburg has spoken to Professors [Albert] Grünwedel and [Karl] von den Steinen in Berlin and they were very interested in Warburg's trip to America; the museum in Berlin has practically no Hopi pottery; could Fewkes organise an excavation, paid for by Germany?; wants to know about his connection with the Smithsonian Institution; is it permitted to excavate and export Indian pots?; he has been sent a very interesting issue of the 'New York Herald' reporting on Fewkes's latest excavations; congratulates him; Warburg may publish a short article about the Humis Katcina dance and will gratefully refer to Fewkes; Warburg has purchased all issues of 'American Anthropologist', but requests offprints of Fewkes's articles in 'Journal for American Folk-Lore'; at the beginning of 1897 he will travel to Italy or to Paris; sends greetings to Mrs. Fewkes
