Contentsthanks for letter of safe return to Europe; is sorry that Warburg's old affliction, hayfever, plagues him; Friedländer will stay in Berlin for the summer and hopes to meet Warburg there; he has found a post in the museum, in the department of painting and sculpture; when [H.] von Tschudi was appointed director of the National Gallery, [Ulrich] Thieme was appointed Bode's assistant; Bode then asked Friedländer to work as his academic assistant and Friedländer has accepted; it is not clear whether this will lead to a permanent post; some weeks ago Thieme's wife has died and Thieme has asked for leave; Bode is ill and attends his office only every second day; therefore Friedländer has to stay in Berlin and cannot ask for leave; his father is not well, he has a bad heart, will go to the spa in Mannheim; Friedländer has not heard anything about the congress in Budapest; it might be cancelled; Pulsky, who at the congress in Cologne had advocated that the next congress should be in Budapest, has been involved in court cases and is either in prison or in a lunatic asylum; after the suicide of H. Ulmann and the lack of progress in setting up the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, nobody really wants to think about art historical congresses; where are the proceedings of the congresses in Nuremberg and Cologne?; wants to hear from Warburg about his travels in the US
