Contentsit must be far better in Heligoland than in Florence in the month of August; is pleased that Warburg has submitted his article in Berlin ['Die Bilderchronik eines florentinischen Goldschmiedes'], hopes that it will contribute to raise the reputation of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz; is pleased that Warburg has found material in Hamburg he wants to publish, sends greetings to [A.] Lichtwark; advises him to settle in Hamburg; he knows, Hamburg is not Florence, but he thinks it best for Warburg to settle down in a job; later in life he can still move to Florence; he cannot say anything about finding employment in the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz; it may be that the board will set up a scholarship post in Florence, but this work would entail cataloguing the 3,000 Ulmann photographs and Brockhaus does not think it is the right work for Warburg; the International Congress of the History of Art in Amsterdam will take place from 29th September to 1st October; asks him to register with the president of the local committee, B.W.F. van Riemsdijk, Director General of the Rijksmuseum; Brockhaus has sent his registration papers; it is important to attend the congresses, one meets colleagues and one is seen by others; Brockhaus would like Warburg to attend, Warburg should not make excuses because other people attend who Warburg does not like; Warburg might learn a great deal for his arazzi research from Belgian, French colleagues; is looking forward to meeting Warburg soon and congratulates him on his new duties [as father-to-be]
