| Contents | acknowledges receipt of books; advises Kautzsch [?] to send a receipt for membership subscriptions to Roberto Papini, 60, Via Fabio Massimo; Warburg will arrange for Kautzsch [?] to stay in Warburg's hotel in Rome; Warburg plans to return to Hamburg after the congress by 30/10/1912, in time for Kautzsch's lecture; invites Kautzsch [?] to stay in Warburg's house in Hamburg; winding up the congress accounts will not be easy; Mary Warburg will not attend the congress in Rome; complains about [Karl] Koetschau's attitude, his lack of respect, his blunt character; Warburg is prepared to tackle him; Warburg fears that Koetschau simply does not want to do his task as Secretary of the Congress; puts it to Kautzsch [?] whether he would be able to take over the tasks of Secretary, particularly in view of organising the next International Congress of the History of Art in Paris; Kautzsch [?] can speak French and Italian, which is an asset when publishing the proceedings of the congress of Rome; Warburg offers to reimburse him for costs involved; an alternative for the remaining members of the committee would be not to stand for re-election because the petty egotism of their former colleagues annoys them too much; the only task then left to the rump committee would be to wind up the Congress in Rome |
