Contentswrites his letter in order to avoid misunderstandings about his role in the preparation of the congress which has passed; it has come to his notice that people say he is furious because Jan Veth has been nominated to be the representative for The Netherlands at the congress in 1916; this is not true; Orbaan calls Jan Veth a perfect gentleman; what infuriates Orbaan is the way in which the offence by Dr. Hofstede de Groot was dealt with behind Orbaan's back; Orbaan repeats that he has never had any fight with Hofstede; but when Hofstede insulted Italy, a country which Orbaan loves very much, Orbaan had to protest; everybody is very much mistaken if they think that Orbaan wanted to get his place in the committee; does not understand why the two Dutch representatives were excluded from the deliberations of the Permanent Committee; he does not believe that Venturi or Roberto Papini will take any interest in Orbaan, but he will break his contacts with the other two members of the Local Committee [Haseloff and Hermanin]
