| Contents | thanks for letter of 31/10/1913; would have replied earlier, waited for Boll's offprints, but they have not arrived; the Summer Courses were very tiring; he had to retire to Heinsheimer's health spa in Baden Baden afterwards; the university crisis in Hamburg taxes all his strength; has to take up position against [Adolf] Wach, just like he had to do in Strasbourg; the ruling classes are vehemently against anything new; those who build bridges are ground down; Saxl is with him and now, that he has married [on 21/10/1913], will have the peace of mind to study the available literature to deepen his scholarship; Warburg has read Saxl's comments on the chronicle of Pavia, the poem of Lazzarelli and the Picatrix text; Warburg will ask Saxl to expand the Lazzarelli essay with Warburg's own material; Saxl realized that the description of gods in Picatrix go back to Hellenistic gemstones, made known possibly by Arabs; reminds him that he has promised a copy of his article on Hermippos to Dr. Gräfe; Saxl's best discovery for Warburg was Fulgentius metaforalis |
